Brian Martinowich: Candidate for President

Here at Penn State Abington I have been fortunate to involve myself in a number of leadership roles, which have allowed me to truly obtain a greater perspective on life and this University. While I have held many different leadership roles on this campus, SGA (Student Government Association) has truly allowed me to grow into the person that I want and inspire to be. Having had the opportunity to serve on the Executive Board for 2 full years has a lot me to obtain great knowledge of this campus as well as the University as a whole. More specifically, being Vice President this past year has allowed me to get to know the majority of the clubs here on this campus both professionally and personally. I have been truly blessed and grateful for the opportunities that I have encountered through my time spent here at Penn State Abington. Leadership opportunities, work experiences, leadership retreats, diversity training, and many other opportunities have allowed me to grow as an adult and truly position myself into the President that I can and should be expected to be. Through my years here at Abington and in SGA my focus has always been about the students.Together I know we can have a great upcoming year and I am very excited to get started!

SGA this upcoming year will focus on the pride and privileges of the students here at Penn State Abington. We will restructure ourselves in a way that will allow for better organization and allow for a sustainable General Board that will enable things to get done more effectively. My belief and hope for all the students is that they will have the same opportunities and wonderful experiences that I have been fortunate to have here at Penn State Abington!

Catarina Moriera: Candidate for Vice President

My name is Catarina Moreira and I’m a sophomore here at Penn State Abington. I’m currently majoring in Corporate Communications and minoring in Business. I peer-assist First-year Engagement courses and was an Orientation Leader this past summer. My primary focus for the year to come is to listen and deliver on the necessities that the students on our campus need, especially in regards to clubs and organizations. As the previous THON chair, I can relate to the bumps in the road when it came to successfully running an organization. Having an advocate on your side is something that we can all use more of, and that’s exactly what my position will entail. I hope to use my outspoken personality and energetic attitude to meet the needs of every student on campus.

Derrick Schmidt: Candidate for Treasurer:

My name is Derrick Schmidt. I am a sophomore and history major here at Abington. I plan on staying here all four years, because I am in love with the campus. A big thing in my life has been martial arts. I have been studying mixed martial arts for almost seven years and have recently been instructing classes. It has taught me a great deal about patience, leadership, and integrity. I intend to bring these three qualities to my position in SGA. Serving as the Secretary this past year, SGA has molded me into a better person. There have been fun and productive times, but also difficult times that you learn from and take valuable lessons from. I am running for Treasurer because I feel qualified enough to handle the monetary issues with clubs, as well as with the SGA. I have become a better leader from experience over the past year including campus events, CCSG, and leadership retreats. There are certain traits and skills I have developed in the past year that should be required for a Treasurer. Communication, Leadership, listening skills, problem solving and decision making have been prominent in the SGA this year, and they are imperative to carry on to the next year.

Candidate for Secretary: Kristopher Gracia

I’m running for SGA Secretary because I believe that when it comes to informing the masses and keeping records, I’m definitely the person for it. Being secretary involves more than paperwork, especially here at PSU Abington. It means helping make everyone’s years here some of the best they’ve ever had.

The Merriam-Webster definition for secretary is an officer who is in charge of correspondence and records. As a candidate for SGA secretary, I would love the opportunity to not only fulfill and go above those duties as possible, but also continue the practice of staying in tune with what is best for our campus. As current secretary of FLAGSA, I’ve been given the chance to do the aforementioned, doing so from an LGBT student’s perspective. Whether it was sending emails, or helping out at events, being a part of a club that does a lot here on campus made my experience here at Abington all the more rewarding. Being a part of the SGA would mean a lot, too. It would mean that I could do much more for this campus and make my next 2 years worth my tuition; talk about stretching a buck – even though that’s the treasurer’s job. Honestly, no matter what you do (as a student), getting involved in general means that you care about your campus, and in my opinion, becoming a part of SGA’s Executive Board would be the pinnacle of involvement. Between homecoming, the pep rallies, the general board meetings, working as a main recorder of events and keeping everyone informed on what’s going on is something I’m passionate about. If you give me the opportunity, I can show you that I truly am fit for the position.

1.
2. Registration requirement
If the specific event doesn't already have pre-registration, the event planner will be required to set up a small table near the entrance with a sign and sign-in sheet (samples below) so that guests can register/sign-in. The table doesn't have to be staffed but should be in a clearly visible location.

3. Keeping Documentation
When guests register using the sign-in sheet, this sheet should be forwarded to the security office in the Rydal Building at the conclusion of the event.
